July 3rd, another day on the surface of the sun

July 3 - Thursday 7:30 am - Hi everyone! It's another beautiful day here, and it's going to be HOT again! Yesterday it was around 38 C, very humid and no wind - wow... we walked to the downtown area for dinner (30-40 min walk) with the group (Jen/Bert, Gretchen, Pam/Grev) and the humidity just hung in the air! (yep we taxi'd home) It thunderstorms almost every day here, either at 5-6 pm or overnight - the humidity is killer........ we're thinking wistfully of our air conditioning at home........
The downtown area is very crowded, with lots of restaurants, shops and apartment/ office buildings, so there is no air movement at all on the ground - and the exhaust fumes are unreal. We are more glad all the time that our apartment is away from that area - we don't have the exhaust smell or smog, and being on the 6th floor we have a nice breeze and a gorgeous view!
Pam and Grev leave tonight to go back to Ottawa, as their first trip is now complete. We are very glad we met them and wish them a safe trip home! They're also at Babyhouse # 3, which means we'll have the same judge for court, so we're hoping to be on similar schedules for our 2nd trips. (The judge is who determines how long the paperwork takes between trips, and we've heard anything from 3 weeks to 8 weeks in between)
Speaking of the babyhouse, we didn't see any more of the building yesterday but we did see kids in the outside play area - large cribs are set up for the babies (10 ft x 10 feet cribs, it looks like), in an area under big trees so there's shade, and there are swings and play structures for the toddlers/bigger kids - it's great for them to get some fresh air.
Without giving too much away...... we have met a child that we'd like to continue visiting! (yay!) We're very impressed with this child and hope the visits continue to go well. We asked a TON of questions of the BH director yesterday and received some background, and we'll have more questions after a couple more visits, I'm sure. We'll start now to visit every day, and see how it goes. We'll post an update once things are further along. Thanks for your patience!!
Have a great day!
take care,
N&P

Congratulations! I know not being able to share details is so hard - I wanted to shout it from the rooftop, but this entire process has taught one to be patient. Looking forward to hearing more about your child when the time is right!

I just got on your blog (my first) it is so wonderful that you can give us so much info on the country. When we went to Portugal they only had washers and no dryers and everyone had laundry hanging out there apartment windows. They also had roll down shutter on the windows I was nervous and thought it was for security but Guy said it was to keep the heat out. Glad to read your visa problem go resolved and that you are visiting with a child. We do respect your wishes but really want to know more info. How about hints? Like would bottles be involved. I know wait, wait. All is well here having a little heat wave but got air conditioning this spring so we are good till the bill comes. Taryn is doing well and getting big. Just over 5 weeks to go. It still doesn't seem real to us. Are you starting to feel you are really there to got your child?
We wish you all the best and will continue to read on. This is a great idea this blog. We are just as close as the Wpg people.

Love and Kisses
