- Thanks for joining us! We arrived home from Almaty, Kazakhstan in in Oct 2008 with our beautiful daughter Angelique! We created this blog as a way for our family and friends to follow our adventures in Kazakhstan as we travelled to meet her and bring her home! We'll also keep this journal to put into our child's LifeBook, to help create a picture of her early life.

- Oct 6 - return to Canada - yay!!
- Sept 20: GOTCHA DAY!!!
- Sept 1: see our Angelique again!
- Sept 3: court date
- Aug 31/Sept 1: arrive in KZ
- Aug 29: leave Canada for trip 2
- Sept 1-30: travel visa dates for trip # 2
- July 16 - home from trip # 1
- July 1 - we met our beautiful Angelique !!
- June 24 - start of trip # 1 to Almaty
- May 30- travel date change - now leaving June 24th
- May 26 - TRAVEL INVITATION, to be there June 3 !!
- Wait a tic - our file was actually received in Kaz Feb 29!!
- Apr 2008 - file received in Kazakhstan!
- Mar 2008 - file received at Canada Consulate to Kaz (Toronto)
- Dec 2007 - Foreign Affairs is done with our file, then translated to Russian
- Sept 2007 - new paperwork for Kaz and redo of some that expired - all forwarded to Canada Foreign Affairs (Ottawa)
- Aug 2007 - decided to change our application to adopt from Kazakhstan
- Feb- July 2007 - attempts to have the number of Canadian families allowed to adopt from Ukraine raised (unsuccessful)
- Jan 2007 - finished home study and 2nd round of paperwork (6 month expiration on some)
- Sept 2006 - finished first round of application paperwork to adopt from Ukraine
- May 2006 - attended orientation session to learn about international adoption

Love to see the photos and get a feel for what you're experiencing. But that's just the tip of the iceberg... can't imagine how exciting this whole process is for you. Had trouble falling asleep last night, imagining you meeting and playing with your little gal, getting to know her. Was thinking, "Isn't fate amazing, to have dropped you two into her world, and her into yours?" Life is radically different from this point onward. Bursting with happiness for you and even sharing the excitement with my co-workers. Already envisioning play dates with our two monkeys (when did kids simply playing together all the sudden become "play dates"... weird).

A 3 year old girl... how wonderful! We love the photos and have fond memories of that pedestrian walkway and its outdoor dining offerings.
Thanks for the pictures - its nice to be able to see your surroundings right now. The outdoor market looks very interesting - does it remind you of The Forks?

Love the pictures. The one on the right reminds me of an apartment building in Ukraine....very Russian looking. The one of the left must be new...definetley nothing Russian about that one. I noticed that the windows open...you would never see that in Canada or the US.
