Still June 28 - now 4:30 pm - good news we are in a new apartment, and it is MUCH better than the first one!!! It's only 1 block from where we were before, but this one has a little store at the bottom which is great to get a few groceries, more bottled water and even beer! We'll walk around a bit to see what else we can find.
This apartment has a kitchen (with table/chairs), a living room /dining room with a long sofa (and a lovely dining table/chairs), and a bedroom (yes, with a table and a chair). Going from 0 tables to 3, and 0 chairs to 8 - wow my head is spinning! (it's funny the things you miss when away from home)
It also has a long balcony that you can get to from both the kitchen and the living room, and tons of windows in each room.
We lost our lovely mountain view as we now face another direction, but we can still see a bit of mountain from the new balcony, and we can see the part of the mountain called Kok Tobe, which is one of the higher mountain peaks and has a cable car ride that we hope to try out soon - very touristy. But we're very happy with the move - this place immediately felt more comfortable as a temporary home.
One thing I forgot to mention before - there are many stray cats around but we're told not to touch them as they're pretty wild. At the restaurant last night there were a couple milling around the tables, even under people's chairs - looking for food I guess. I really miss our cat Farley, but I at least get to see cats! We haven't seen too many dogs, and actually we were told it's not very common to have dogs as pets here.
That's all for now - have a great weekend!
take care

HiYa Nic & Paul!
Nice news about the new apt. If you have to be away from home, its nice to have something comfy! Our Bombers lost last nite 23 to 16. Good game but too many mistakes made. They'll do better next time I'm sure.
Lots of good vibes being sent regarding the visa issue!
Lots of love

Just caught up on all the news. I'm glad to hear you have a better apartment, and with multiple chairs! I do worry about Paul's back with a bedspring only - wish we could send over our memory foam topper!
On our end, the kids had their very last day in daycare yesterday. I don't know who was more excited - them or me? I hope to wrap up my work in the next 5-10 days (part time-ish), then life will be really sweet!
Anyway, the Kornachuks are with you in spirit and we love to read up on your news.
Talk soon

Hey Guys! Glad to hear things are going well. Hope that Visa issue gets resolved soon and without any more problems. Paul you missed a heart breaker last night! Couple "chincy" Pass Interference calls near the end which helped them grab the lead but oh well, the boys'll settle down within a couple weeks. Things are great here! Steph got in last night and is enjoying his X-Box on the flat screen haha. Chantal just finished her exam yesterday morning and is ecstatic because she did very well. Yes I am very proud of her hehe, And Farley is having a good time with us but I can tell he misses you dearly! Couple questions for you though... First, how do you turn off the light in the storage room downstairs? I've looked around but could not find a switch. Second, found the piano downstairs but couldn't find the patch cord. Would you know where it is?
Hope your having a great time and looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi guys!
So happy for you for the new apartment - too bad about the mountain view, but oh well - more chairs, tables, beer store(!), I think it's a good trade!
All the fingers are crossed (and the toes) that you'll hear more about your visa situation soonest. Good vibes coming to you.
All is well here. Glad you had a good time with the new friends, but kind of creepy about the cats!
More later. Love ya's!
